Introducing Response Hub: the AI-Powered reporting engine for every information request

Optera’s Response Hub uses AI to turn complex, high-volume sustainability data requests into fast, auditable, data-backed responses, helping teams reduce manual reporting and focus on decarbonization.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Response Hub, Optera’s new solution for turning any sustainability data request into auditable, data-backed responses in minutes. From CDP and CSRD to customer questionnaires and investor requests, Response Hub helps teams respond faster, more consistently, and with full confidence in their data.

Solving our clients’ biggest problems

For more than 20 years, as we’ve partnered with companies on their GHG accounting journey, we’ve consistently looked for ways to improve efficiency without compromising accuracy or quality. As we continued to solve core challenges for our clients, we kept asking a simple question: where are you still spending the most time? The answer was clear: data sharing and reporting.

Through the Optera platform, we had already streamlined much of the heavy lifting through automated data imports, robust emissions factor automation, auditability and transparency, and actionable Scope 3 insights. With the majority of our clients’ data already centralized in the platform, we saw an opportunity to go further by giving teams their time back to focus on the work that really matters: decarbonization.

We initially built reporting capabilities to support established frameworks like CDP, but client demand quickly expanded. New frameworks continued to emerge, alongside a growing volume of bespoke data requests from customers, partners, and stakeholders — often numbering in the dozens, if not hundreds, at any given time.

That’s where AI becomes transformative. By harnessing AI to extract relevant data and generate responses, companies can move from days or weeks of manual effort to minutes without sacrificing the rigor and traceability they depend on.

The State of ESG Reporting

Sustainability reporting has become both more complex and more pervasive across nearly every industry.

Regulations like CSRD in Europe and California’s climate disclosure laws are raising the bar, with new requirements emerging in New York, Canada, APAC, and beyond. These frameworks are not only expanding, they’re evolving constantly. At the same time, investors and customers are asking more frequently for detailed ESG disclosures, from annual GHG emissions to governance structures, policies, and climate risk.

The result: sustainability teams are being asked to do more, more often and with higher stakes than ever before.

The Reality Teams Are Facing

Across the market, we consistently see the same challenges:

  • Endless, inconsistent requests: Questionnaires, surveys, and frameworks vary widely in format and requirements. Even when they ask similar questions, they’re rarely standardized, making it difficult to reuse prior work.
  • Constant change: Common frameworks like CDP frequently update their structure, forcing teams to rework responses year after year.
  • Under-resourced teams: ESG teams are expected to keep up with growing demands, often without the headcount or tools to scale.
  • High stakes for getting it right: Accuracy isn’t optional. Errors in GHG reporting or disclosures can lead to regulatory fines, loss of investor confidence, or missed business opportunities with key customers.

This combination creates a system where teams spend disproportionate time on manual, repetitive reporting work instead of focusing on actual decarbonization or delivering measurable value to their business.

Why We Built Response Hub

Response Hub was designed to solve these problems at their root.

First, it’s directly connected to your emissions data in Optera. That means every response is grounded in verified, audit-grade data — not spreadsheets, exports, or disconnected tools.

Second, it includes a centralized knowledge base for qualitative information like policies, governance details, and prior disclosures that typically live across documents, decks, and emails. By bringing this together with your quantitative data, Response Hub enables a holistic view of sustainability reporting in one place.

Third, it’s powered by adaptive AI, not rigid templates. Instead of relying on hard-coded formats that quickly become outdated, Response Hub dynamically adapts to new and changing frameworks, whether it’s a regulatory disclosure, investor request, or customer questionnaire.

It also includes an AI-powered Q&A tool for ad hoc questions, helping teams quickly retrieve accurate, context-rich answers without digging through past reports.

And critically, Response Hub is not a black box. Every response is tied to underlying data and source material, making it fully traceable, reviewable, and ready for third-party assurance. Built-in approval workflows ensure that teams stay in control of what gets disclosed.

Looking Ahead

We believe sustainability reporting tools need to reflect the reality of the industry: dynamic, high-stakes, and constantly evolving.

Response Hub is built to meet that moment, with flexibility to adapt to new regulations, the auditability required for compliance, and the speed teams need to keep up.

By reducing the time spent on manual reporting, we’re enabling sustainability teams to focus on what matters most: driving real emissions reductions and meaningful climate impact.
